PPA is committed to strengthening our community by volunteering our time to assist attorneys and/or other legal service providers in pro bono activities, as well as participating in a number of community service projects. Annual Community Service Projects Each spring, PPA collects Easter baskets and monetary donations in order to assist in providing baskets for several local children's homes, including Epworth Children's Home, Carolina Children's Home, and the Department of Mental Health. Each fall, PPA collects canned goods and monetary donations for Harvest Hope Food Bank. Navy Legalman and Military Paralegal Program PPA is an active participant in NFPA's Navy Legalman and Military Paralegal Outreach Program. The purpose of this program is to provide support and bring comfort, along with information and news regarding the civilian paralegal profession, to our military paralegal counterparts serving overseas. PPA sends a care package to our "adopted" legalman every other month. Our current legalman was scheduled to return home from Afghanistan at the end of August. South Carolina Legal Services South Carolina Legal Services (SCLS) provides free legal services in a wide variety of civil (non-criminal) legal matters to eligible low income residents of South Carolina. SCLS is a non-profit corporation, funded by grants from the federally funded Legal Services Corporation, the South Carolina Bar Foundation, the South Carolina Bar, local United Ways, state court filing fees, and other federal, state and local funding.
