PPA is committed to strengthening our community by volunteering our time to assist attorneys and/or other legal service providers in pro bono activities, as well as participating in a number of community service projects.

Annual Pro Bono Service Projects

In 2013, PPA partnered with the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division and attorney Jennifer Ashburn to serve as volunteers at their annual Wills Clinic.  In 2013, PPA members were able to volunteer their time and service to the Sumter, Orangeburg and Richland County Wills Clinics.  Members served as witnesses and notaries during the clinic along with other requested assistance from the attendeees and YLD.

Annual Community Service Projects

Each spring, PPA collects Easter baskets and monetary donations in order to assist in providing baskets for several local children's homes, including Epworth Children's Home, Carolina Children's Home, and the Department of Mental Health.

Each fall, PPA collects canned goods and monetary donations for Harvest Hope Food Bank.

50 Shades of Pink

October is breast cancer awareness month and PPA understands the importance of awareness and early detection.  Therefore, in 2013 PPA hosted its first annual 50 Shades of Pink after work social for attorneys, paralegals, legal support staff, law students and paralegal students from Midlands, South University and USC.  This event had a dual purpose of raising awareness among the legal community as well as to raise funds for the annual Palmetto Health Walk for Life.
